ueno bank posts the strongest first half in its history, supported by customer growth, greater financial inclusion and increased international backing

The results reflect the strength achieved by the institution, the expansion of its customer base, and the support of investors and strategic partners for its long-term vision.

ueno bank closed the first half of 2026 with the strongest results in its history, reflecting a business model built on greater scale, a solid financial structure, and the backing of investors and international institutions. These results reinforce the bank’s role as a key contributor to Paraguay’s economic and financial development.

During the period, ueno bank reached 2.94 million customers, consolidating its position as one of the financial institutions with the broadest reach in the country. As part of this growth, more than 200,000 people entered the financial system for the first time through ueno bank, expanding access to financial products and services for thousands of Paraguayans.

The semester was also marked by increased international support. The bank completed a USD 350 million international bond issuance, the largest ever completed by a Paraguayan bank in international markets, and secured USD 171 million in new credit facilities from development finance institutions.

These transactions included the first investment in Paraguay by the Development Bank of Austria (OeEB), through a USD 20 million credit facility aimed at expanding access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting women-led entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable finance initiatives. In addition, Finance in Motion, through the eco.business Fund, increased its investment in ueno bank to USD 20 million to support projects related to the green economy and sustainable development.

At the same time, OTP Bank, one of Europe’s leading financial groups, increased its strategic investment in U Holdings, ueno bank’s parent company, to USD 47 million, further strengthening its position as one of U Holdings’ main shareholders. These transactions reinforced the institution’s capital base and financial position, expanded access to long-term funding, and supported its continued growth.

In housing finance, ueno bank recorded the highest growth in housing lending across Paraguay’s financial system, with its portfolio increasing by 26.7%. This performance created new opportunities for more Paraguayan families to move closer to owning a house. With these results, ueno bank reaffirms its commitment to advancing financial inclusion, supporting the growth of people and businesses, and contributing to Paraguay’s sustainable development.
