Within just six days, two Paraguayan drivers secured victories in two of the most important categories in international motorsport. Diego Domínguez won in WRC2 during the WRC ueno Rally Paraguay and, less than a week later, Joshua Dürksen claimed victory in the Formula 2 Sprint Race in Monza, Italy. Two wins on different stages that brought Paraguay to international audiences and marked a standout week for Paraguayan motorsport.

In Itapúa, Diego Domínguez, alongside Spanish co-driver Rogelio Peñate, secured a historic victory in the WRC2 category at the WRC ueno Rally Paraguay, driving their Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. With this result, Domínguez became the first Paraguayan to win a WRC2 event as part of the FIA World Rally Championship, during the first World Championship round held in the country.

Days later, in Europe, Joshua Dürksen won the Formula 2 Sprint Race in Monza after an impressive comeback from seventh place, a result that once again put a Paraguayan driver at the center of the international motorsport scene.

The two results come at a time of growing momentum for Paraguayan motorsport. The country hosted a round of the FIA World Rally Championship for the first time, while Paraguayan drivers continue to compete consistently in international categories.

In less than a week, Domínguez’s victory at the WRC ueno Rally Paraguay and Dürksen’s win in Monza presented two powerful images of Paraguay on the international motorsport stage: as a host of a World Rally Championship round and as a country capable of bringing drivers to the podium beyond its borders.

These results also reflect the growth of Paraguayan motorsport. The presence of national drivers in world-class competitions demonstrates that Paraguay has the talent to compete—and win—at the highest levels of international motorsport.
